The Creative Minds Behind Your Productions
Jason Ruch
Jason , Owner and Mix Engineer, known for his work in rock and metal, while also spanning genres like indie rock, pop, and electronic music. Jason has built a reputation for delivering dynamic, high-quality audio across a wide range of projects. His work as a recording and mixing engineer, producer, and sound designer has supported record labels, independent artists, film and television productions, and corporate clients alike.
Before founding Zero By One Sound, Jason toured extensively from the
late ’90s through the mid-2000s with several metal, industrial, and gothic bands, sharing stages with Stabbing Westward, Gravity Kills, Lacuna Coil, The Birthday Massacre, and Fear Factory, among others.
Expanding beyond the music world, he launched Audio Zombie, a company that creates custom sound effects and design for leading haunted attractions and animatronics companies around the globe. Through Audio Zombie, Jason’s sound libraries and music collections have become staples for creators throughout the entertainment industry.

Randy Ball
Randy is an audio engineer and filmmaker with a passion for storytelling through sound and visuals. He graduated from Rider University in 2015 with a degree in Liberal Arts and Rowan University in 2018 with a degree in Audio Engineering.
After graduation, Randy joined Zero By One as a recording engineer and foley mixer. He has contributed to projects for Disney, Cartoon Network, Food Network, and National Geographic as well as music for artists including Sun Ra Arkestra, Jay Stolar, Jayar Mack, Single Bullet Theory, The End A.D., and the Misfits.
In 2020, Randy and Jason launched the video production branch of Zero By One, combining his audio background with his passion for film. Around that time he also served as video director for WormHoleDeath USA, creating music videos and visual content for rock and metal artists worldwide.

James Forbes
James, our Mastering Specialist, has logged over 35+ years in professional recording studios and has worked with artists on Warner Brothers, Epic Records, Metal Blade, Universal Records, Roadrunner, Sony Music, TVT, Sensory Records and Arista Records, The Sound Of LA, Pure Steel Records Germany among others.
James is an ASCAP member and co-owner of Jacoda Music Publishing Inc as well as a voting member of the Recording Academy. James spent 7 years as an audio instructor at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida
